PIKESVILLE, Md. — The Baltimore County Fire Department is currently addressing a significant mass casualty incident in Pikesville.
According to fire officials, a bus collided with a building located in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road.

A total of 33 individuals sustained injuries as a result of the accident, with two individuals being reported in critical condition.
One of those critically injured has since been airlifted by medical evacuation to Shock Trauma via Maryland State Police.

The emergency response included 15 ambulances, with additional assistance coming from units in Howard and Anne Arundel counties. In response to downed power lines, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) is also en route to the scene.
Reports indicate that seven other vehicles were involved in the crash. Emergency responders had to extricate one critically injured passenger from the bus, while another individual required extraction from a car.
In light of the incident, Baltimore County police have closed Reisterstown Road in both directions between Old Court Road and McHenry Avenue.
Motorists are advised to avoid this area and seek alternate routes, as a lengthy closure is anticipated.
Governor Wes Moore has issued a statement, noting that his administration is “closely monitoring” developments related to the situation.

In his statement, Governor Moore emphasized, “Dawn and I are keeping everyone impacted in our hearts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for our first responders who acted with speed and skill to ensure the safety of our neighbors. We’ve been in close coordination with local officials to provide any support needed on the ground.”
Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones has assured the public that he remains in close contact with both the Baltimore County Fire Department and regional emergency partners as the situation evolves.
He expressed confidence in the coordinated emergency response, stating, “A comprehensive effort is underway, and I have every assurance in the first responders who are urgently working to rescue those in danger and provide care for the injured. My thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the victims and their families. I encourage residents to avoid the area so that emergency crews have the necessary space to conduct their work safely.”
